ABOUT JAMES

An accountant by training, James is an accomplished trainer, consultant, and executive coach with more than 25 years of extensive experience in facilitation and leadership development. He has worked in financial services, fast-moving consumer goods, hotel and property development/management, consultancy, and higher education sectors. He was an Independent Director with two listed companies on the Singapore Exchange where he provided leadership and strategic advice to a team of experienced executive directors. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at Nanyang Technological University, SP Jain School of Global Management, and University of Newcastle. He is also a Visiting Professor at Wuhan University of Technology. 

James conducts in-house training and public workshops in Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Laos, Myanmar, and Taiwan on leadership development, employee effectiveness, team engagement, accounting and finance, corporate governance, risk management, positive psychology, change management, diversity and inclusiveness. He has conducted training with Burberry, Bristol Myers Squibb, Clifford Chance, Dell, HashiCorp, Henkel, HSBC, IQVIA, Jardine, LinkedIn, McKinsey, Nike, NUS, Pinterest, Rolls Royce, Siemens Healthineers, Unilever, etc. With empathy and connectedness as his key strengths, James demonstrates his credibility and affinity when providing training to his clients. He designs and delivers highly engaging and client-oriented workshops that are practical and outcome-driven.

As a Certified Executive Coach, James provides strength-based and solution-focused executive coaching for C-suite leaders and onboarding directors/managers based in Singapore, APAC, Europe, and the US who are seeking performance improvement, change management, leadership effectiveness, employee empowerment, talent management, and team management. His coaching style is engaging, transformational, goal oriented, and solution focused.

James holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance from the University of Western Australia and eight master’s degrees in business administration, adult learning and leadership, marketing, digital education, investment and finance, positive psychology and coaching psychology, educational assessment, and business research. He is a fellow member of several accountancy bodies in Singapore, Australia, and the UK.
