Desmond has extensive experience in human resources and organisational development, both in the United States and throughout Asia. His career has taken him between consulting and senior leadership roles in talent management and organisational development across multiple industries. His expertise encompasses the design and implementation of assessment and development centres, change and talent management processes, organisational development interventions, as well as capability building and development/learning strategies. Desmond’s consulting experience spans across industries including pharmaceuticals, real estate, logistics, heavy industries, finance (banking and insurance), manufacturing, shipping, information technology, oil and gas, and telecommunications.
Desmond’s almost two-decade-long career in both consulting and human resources leadership roles has provided him with a unique perspective to the most pressing human capital issues and challenges that many organisations face. He held several senior organisational development and talent management leadership roles in different multinational corporations, including a global role overseeing global talent development for an oil and gas services company.
Desmond has provided consulting advice on a wide range of human resource initiatives ranging from change management, organisational development and design, succession planning, talent acquisition and workforce planning, talent management, competency assessment, training and development programs across all organisational levels; including the design of succession management frameworks. He was also an executive coach, working with senior leaders from various organizations to drive leadership excellence and peak performance.
Desmond holds a PhD in Psychology from Wichita State University & is certified/trained in several psychometric tools. He is passionate about Organisational Development and Talent Management and participated in the Conference Board’s Research Working Group (RWG) on developing and retaining high potential talent in Asia and contributed his insights as a subject matter on HR Analytics & Assessments in the book Fundamentals of HR Analytics (Diez, Bussin & Lee, 2019).
