TAY LI PING
Consultant

Tay Li Ping has worked as a consultant Industrial Organisational Psychologist with the Ministry of Defence for eight years.

Her expertise includes psychological assessment and selection and she has designed and implemented selection systems for specialised vocations in the Singapore Armed Forces including submariners and divers. She has been and continues to be involved in competency-based interviewing of Public Service Commission scholarship candidates and served as an assessor in MINDEF’s in-house assessment centre for selecting leaders.

Li Ping’s other major area of expertise is in the design and conduct of large-scale survey research projects for organisational development and effectiveness and has led the conduct of several ministry-wide surveys as well as a civil-service wide survey.

Li Ping also has varied expertise and experience in the training and development of individuals as well as teams. She has conducted various leadership development workshops for civilian and military leaders as well as team-building workshops for military leaders. Furthermore, for the past five years, she has been a teaching assistant for a Masters-level leadership course conducted by Nanyang Business School for military leaders.

Li Ping is certified in the British Psychological Society (BPS) Level A Certificate of Competence in Occupational testing (Ability/Aptitude testing) as well as the Level B Certificate of Competence in Occupational Testing (Personality testing).  She is qualified to use the personality instruments 15FQ+ and Myers Briggs Type Indicator as well as the 360 degree feedback tools Benchmarks and Skillscope. In addition, she has extensive experience using the 16PF personality tool. Li Ping is also trained in psychological trauma management.

Li Ping was awarded the Defence Training Award to study at Stanford University, where she graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts (with distinction) and Master of Arts in Psychology.
